  National Farmers Day 2020: Every year India celebrates National Farmers Day on December 23 to mark former Prime Minister of India Chaudhary Charan Singh’s birth anniversary. The government organizes many programs and debates, seminars on agriculture on this day. Only a few of us might be aware of the fact that we actually have a day dedicated to our farmers. This national farmers day becomes even more relevant to us because more than 50% of the Indian population is engaged with the agricultural sector. National Farmers Day is celebrated every year especially in those states which are actively engaged in farming such as Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh among others. NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY

  Every year, our country celebrates National Mathematics Day on 22nd December to commemorate the birth anniversary of the ingenious mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan (22 Dec 1887- 26 Apr 1920). In 2012, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh declared 22nd December as the National Mathematics Day. On that occasion, he also announced 2012 would be celebrated as the National Mathematics Year.               Srinivasa Ramanuja                   Srinivasa Ramanujan Ramanujan, who was born in 1887 in Erode, Tamil Nadu, had a huge passion for mathematics since his childhood. At the age of 12, he had mastered trigonometry and developed many theorems on his own without any assistance.                           VIJAY DIWAS   Vijay Diwas ( विजय दिवस, Victory Day) is commemorated every 16th December in India, to observe Indian military's victory overver Pakistan in Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 for the liberation of Bangladesh from Pakistan.   The end of the war also resulted in the unilateral and unconditional surrender of the Pakistan Army and subsequent secession of East Pakistan into Bangladesh.     On this day in 1971, the chief of the Pakistani forces, General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, along with 93,000 troops, surrendered to the allied forces consists of Indian Army and Mukti Bahini, led by General Jagjit Singh Aurora, of India in the Ramna Race Course, now Suhrawardy Udyan, in Dhaka after their defeat in the war.  Same day and event is commemorated in Bangladesh as Bijoy Dibos. World Soil Day is December 5, a day that was established to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and advocating for the sustainable management of soil resources.  USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) continues to promote healthy soil for life. Soil health, also referred to as soil quality, is defined as the continued capacity of soil to function as a vital living ecosystem that sustains plants, animals, and humans. This definition speaks to the importance of managing soils so they are sustainable for future generations.  NRCS notes that healthy soil gives us clean air and water, bountiful crops and forests, productive grazing lands, diverse wildlife, and beautiful landscapes.
